Our legal team advises you in many areas of law and is available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Our work is divided into four main categories: legal information and recommendations, legal advice and case handling, municipal legal information, and legal reform and advocacy. This partnership provides legal opportunities to the student community through four clinics: Wills and Wishes, Divorce and Family Law, Fines and Civil Litigation, and Criminal Injuries Court. Under the supervision of lawyers, students work directly with clients to develop practical skills and confidence while making a difference in the community. This partnership with JobWatch, a labour law centre, offers internships where students are directly on the front lines working with clients on their employment law issues. Students are trained and supported by JobWatch lawyers to respond to a range of clients on their labour rights to ensure workers have access to labour justice. La Trobe Law School works with a number of private and public law firms, corporations and government organizations to offer law and criminology students the opportunity to gain practical skills and experience, strengthen their academic learning, and provide valuable services to the community. Whittlesea Community Connections Community Legal Service provides free legal assistance to people who live, work or study in the Town of Whittlesea and surrounding communities.

We can provide legal assistance in relation to a number of legal matters, and if we are unable to assist you, we may provide legal information or a referral to the appropriate service to assist you. Our office in Epping contains a wide range of legal brochures and brochures that are made available to the public free of charge. Whittlesea Community Connection lawyers drive their Expresso Legal coffee cart to markets, schools and libraries in the Whittlesea area. Our goal is to raise awareness of the law so they can make more informed decisions. Legal education is an important means of achieving this, and we are able to organize and offer sessions describing rights and obligations in different areas of law.

These sessions can be offered for groups upon request, although we actively seek out these opportunities and are happy to discuss any ideas you may have. Criminology students offer forms and advocacy support through our partnership with Prace. Through the Free Wills Clinic, our team of lawyers creates wills for FREE as a service to the City of Whittlesea.
