Art Law Studio Ltd

Based at Studio Voltaire in South London, we dive into the art world and have a simple mission: to expand access to specialist legal advice for players in the art market. Our fees are intentionally available as we strive to bring ivory tower art law expertise to the studios, homes and galleries of more artists, consultants, collectors and dealers. We are proud and grateful to be part of the vibrant community at Studio Voltaire in South London: they are the people regulated by the SRA in this organisation. Adam Jomeen, Founder of Art Law Studio Ltd© 2021 Jae W V Kim You can find out more about the booked legal activities on the Legal Services Council website. Prior to founding Art Law Studio, Adam began his career at Travers Smith before joining Clyde & Co, where he specialized in international dispute resolution. He has handled transactions and litigation related to the UK, US, Europe and Latin America and has worked with leading foreign lawyers to provide transparent, tailored and cost-effective advice. In an increasingly globalized world, Adam`s command of Portuguese and his working knowledge of Spanish, French and German are often helpful. From new collectors to experienced connoisseurs, we help you overcome pitfalls and collect with confidence. We set the rules for this company. There are benefits and protections for customers of SRA-regulated businesses. The LLM and the shorter IAL courses helped me gain expertise in art law; to constitute a valuable reference library of case law and legislation specific to art in the main legal systems of the art market, to which I refer regularly; and network with art law experts in the UK and abroad. I enjoyed writing for the IAL blog and the quarterly magazine Art, Antiquity and Law, and recently presenting at a seminar on «Law and Photography» with an exceptional number of international colleagues.

It is always a pleasure to work with the Institute and I look forward to further cooperation. There are currently no disciplinary or regulatory decisions issued about this company. What advice would you give to someone considering LLM or studying with IAL? I encourage them to do so. Shorter IAL courses are a great way to test water, and I recommend the LLM to anyone looking for a more holistic approach to this complex field. My only advice to potential LLM applicants is to think about when you will get the most out of it – either right after your undergraduate studies or after you have obtained your qualification and gained practical work experience in your jurisdiction. We help retailers, gallery owners and consultants meet their compliance obligations and protect their interests. We work closely with leading local experts to ensure transparent and cost-effective advice. I studied history at King`s College London before moving on to law and being educated at Travers Smith. I moved to the firm`s Paris office for qualification, where I had the chance to work (hard!) on really interesting contracts with carefully selected local lawyers. I enjoyed navigating a civil jurisdiction as an English lawyer, and after returning to London, I took the opportunity to move with Clyde & Co to Brazil, where I spent almost 7 years resolving complex disputes that often involved more than one jurisdiction.

One aviation case for which I was responsible involved parallel proceedings in France, the United States and Colombia; the contradictory decisions of the French Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Judicial District; and far too many air miles! Above all, I enjoyed the first-class teaching of the IAL faculty and the guest experts, who were always well prepared, passionate and dedicated. Given the global nature of the art market, I found the comparative legal aspects of the program invaluable, including, for example: how and when ownership of stolen art is transferred to the main jurisdictions of the art market; different approaches to copyright and moral rights in the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe; and the registration of financial holdings in works of art in the United States and Great Britain.
